PRO-TIP: To get the best results plan to avoid sweating, sun, and swimming for at least ten days after.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY BROW APPOINTMENT?
Stop tweezing, waxing, tinting, threading as soon as you book your appointment! Doing this will allow Maris to give you the best possible results.
Avoid caffeine for 12 hours before your procedure. Yes, that means no coffee! (Caffeine increases blood flow and will greatly affect your healed results)
Do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of your procedure.
Do not work out the day of your appointment! You will not be able to work out for ONE WEEK after your appointment. Sweating Sweating causes pigment discoloration!
You must not use Retin-A near the brow area 2 weeks before or after the procedure.
You will need to avoid water/saltwater and extreme sun exposure for at least two weeks following your appointment. Please plan accordingly!
You will be unable to wear any type of makeup on the brow area for TWO WEEKS while the brow heals. Please plan accordingly with any events/parties/weddings.
No Botox, fillers, Microdermabrasion, chemical peels or anything of the like for at least two weeks before your procedure.
You should not take (unless prescribed by a Doctor) any medications that may thin your blood (i.e., Aspirin, Ibuprofen, fish oil, Vitamin E) 72 hours before or immediately after your procedure.

WHAT ABOUT AFTERCARE?
Maris will provide precise instructions for your aftercare, and she provides you with EVERYTHING you need to get the best results possible.
WHO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR THE PROCEDURE?
Microblading is not suitable if you have/are:
Using Accutane or have used Accutane within the past year
Freshly tanned/sunburned face
On blood-thinning medications or antibiotics
Diabetic (doctor's note required)
In treatment for cancer (must be off Chemo or Radiation for 6 months)
Viral infection or disease (cold, flu, etc.)
Skin irritation or Psoriasis near treated area
WHAT FACTORS WILL AFFECT MY BROWS?
Oily Skin: Increased oil production can cause hair strokes to blur and heal lighter and powdery.
Smoking: Smokers may notice that their Semi-Permanent Cosmetics will fade faster
Anemia and iron deficiency: Your body will absorb these iron-based pigments more quickly.
Sun exposure: Increased exposure to the sun will cause premature fading.
Age and metabolism. The Faster your metabolism, the faster the pigment will fade
Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during your procedure will significantly affect how your body retains pigment. While this is not entirely in our control, it is essential that you follow before care instructions to help minimize bleeding. This includes avoiding blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine before your procedure
WHAT IF I’VE HAD PREVIOUS BROW TATTOOING/MICROBLADING?
We require anyone who has had their brows previously tattooed/microbladed by another artist to contact us with a picture before booking an appointment.
We cannot take all correction cases and will need to see photos of your previous work to determine if we can take you on as a client. Working over previous tattooing is very difficult and can be unpredictable as the type of pigment/method used by the previous artist is unknown.
Correction appointments are far more time consuming and require higher level of expertise. ANYONE with previous work will be considered a “correction/cover up” on our booking site. If you arrive at your appointment with previous work and did not reach out to us before hand, your appointment will be canceled and you will be charged a cancelation fee.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY BROW APPOINTMENT?
You'll likely wake up the next day in a panic since your brows will have darkened from the first day. Don't worry; this happens to everyone! Trust the process and follow your aftercare instructions. Maris will provide strict healing guidelines for days 1-14. Remember, complete healing occurs over the first 45 days so you should avoid:
SUN | SWIMMING | SWEATING
Peels, Injectables and Retin-A (avoid Retin-A & peels in the treated area for the life of your procedure to prevent excessive fading or change in color)
In the hours following your procedure, your brows will appear much darker and bolder than it will heal due to oxidation in the surface layer of your skin. Brows will also appear warmer in color. You may experience some redness or swelling around the treated area; this typically disappears within 48 hours.
Around day 3, you may notice some flaking or light scabbing on the treated area, do not pick at it, doing so can result in loss of pigment in those areas. Brows may appear spotty or patchy until the entire brow has finished healing. You may notice that some areas may appear very light or even have lost pigment entirely after they have peeled, the epidermis will be thicker, causing muting, hiding or diffusing of pigment underneath. The epidermis will normalize over the next four weeks, and softened pigment should appear more clearly on the surface of the skin.
At four weeks, your brows will be fully healed. Whatever pigment that does not return will be addressed at your perfection session appointment or if you’d prefer darker, bolder brows we can always add more color or dimension during that appointment!
PRO-TIP: Plan ahead to make sure that you can adhere to the above for your 1st appointment + your touch-up.
WHAT MAKES MARIS DIFFERENT THAN OTHER ARTISTS?
Experience. Maris has been in the beauty industry for 15+ years, continuously learning & teaching. She has won numerous awards and has been published in several international, national and local magazines. She has worked on thousands of faces, from models and celebrities to brides and women everywhere.
In early 2019 Maris completed her 1000th brow, and her pricing includes Microblading and Combo Brows. Most microblading artists price differently for these services.
Your safety is taken very seriously, and we use only disposable tools that are opened in front of you. The highest quality ink and numbing agents are used to keep you comfortable and ensure the best HEALED results. Maris is a licensed Cosmetic Tattoo Artist, works in a fully licensed tattoo shop, and is fully insured. Most microbladers don't even carry insurance, which is terrifying, so we encourage you to ask if you choose to go somewhere else.
Maris is also a leader in the movement for Cleaner Beauty and is one of the few makeup artists to have a completely “clean” kit. She is always doing her best to curate more tutorials, product reviews, and information for you.
IS IT PAINFUL?
The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none! Two types of topical anesthetics are used to make sure you comfortable during the procedure; however, pain tolerance varies from client to client.
WILL I SCAB?
If you follow Maris’ aftercare to the letter, you should not scab. Some flaking may occur, but that's it!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The initial sessions take about 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the type of appointment. During this session, I will shape and style your brows and make any changes needed. We then follow with pigment color selection. Once you are satisfied with the choices, we will apply numbing cream and begin the procedure.
The second perfecting session takes place 6-8 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
Microblading is considered semi-permanent because the pigments are designed to fade over time. Factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, medications, and pigment color affect the longevity of your brows. The sun will also affect the rate at which these pigments are broken down. A touch-up anywhere between 6 months to 2 years depending on your skin and lifestyle will be required to keep your brows looking fresh!
WHAT KIND OF PIGMENT IS USED?
Unlike body tattoos, which are made using carbon-based ink, cosmetic tattoos are made using iron-oxide based pigments. These pigments are safe to use and are created to fade over time slowly. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color.
WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE IT?
As with all cosmetic procedures, it is always recommended that clients do their research and understand the process and compare different artists' work and portfolio when making their decisions. Maris will do her utmost to shape and style your eyebrows to your satisfaction before the procedure, and every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance. If you ultimately decide microblading is not for you, your brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch-ups are done.
